How is STAROSY FOUNDATION different from other organizations of its type?
STAROSY FOUNDATION focuses on multiple outreach programs so that the community will have the opportunity to benefit from the holistic care of the individual. This Foundation also had a higher rate of access to quality care that improved the innovative health care of the population.
Who can be involved?
Anyone. We believe everyone has their own uniqueness that can contribute to the success of the organization. The STAROSY FOUNDATION is open to those with a kind heart.
How can nursing/medical students benefit from taking a trip?
The Starosy Foundation provides opportunities for student nurses to gain new knowledge, ideas, and skills about nursing procedures, research, and technology from experts in the field. We will have licensed medical professionals available to assist. Every student must be supervised by licensed medical professionals. We expect that students should work within their scope of practice and maintain high ethical standards.
As a non-medical volunteer, how can I contribute to the clinic?
You will probably be surprised by how much you can contribute to the clinic even as a non-medical volunteer! There are some very important tasks that we can quickly train you to do new high technology in the art of nursing. You can help escort patients, and assist in stocking and organizing supplies for lab and pharmacy. The clinical assignment will be given to the volunteers before the trip, and further details during team orientation.

Do I need to register with the American Embassy?
No. You may register your trip details with the State Department’s STEP (Safe Traveler Enrollment Program) prior to departure to ensure the nearest U.S. embassy or local consulate is aware of your presence in case of an emergency. We can register all of our team members as well.
What can I do ahead of time to prepare for my trip?
You may google the location to know their local languages. More importantly, you also have to commit this trip to prayer. Please be sure to check your emails regularly to stay updated on upcoming deadlines and tasks.
I am unable to travel at this time; how can I contribute?
By spreading knowledge of the organization through social media, we can reach more sponsors. Providing donations or supplies gives us an opportunity to increase the number of people under our care.
Do I have to have my passport to apply for a trip?
No. It depends on the time interval. The normal processing time for a passport is 6-8 weeks. You can apply even before you obtain your passport. However, it is best to have received your passport before you apply for a trip. Your passport is needed to register in STEP and other travel arrangements.
Do I need a visa? How do I obtain it?
Absolutely! You will need to go online and apply to the embassy of the host country or visit Online Integrated Services nearest to your destination, or call OIS at 213-705-2978.
What happens after I submit my application?
It takes 24-48 hours for us to review your application. We will contact you via email and telephone using the information provided in your application. We will secure the position in the program for successful applicants.
Will there be time for sightseeing and shopping?
Yes, there will be plenty of time to explore prominent cities, visit places of interest, go shopping, and have fun as a tourist. Tourism information is usually included in the welcome packet. All work and no play make Jack a dull boy.
How do I know which vaccinations I need?
It depends on the international region. Vaccinations vary from region to region. Please visit the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website for more information at www.cdc.org
What is the minimum age to take a trip with the Starosy Foundation?
From 18 years and above.
What is Covered in the trip cost?
  • Your Welcome Packet – There will be a meeting 4 weeks before traveling to answer questions in detail related to the trip. The meeting can be scheduled via phone conference, skype video, or in person. You will receive your welcome packet after the meeting and important information regarding the travel. You will receive Tourism information concerning the trip.
  • Accommodations: All accommodations throughout the trip are covered in your trip cost. There may be the need to share a room with someone of the same sex. You will be responsible for lodging in a hotel not arranging for the organization.
  • In-Country Meals: All meals once you are in the host country are covered in your trip cost. You are responsible for the food not provided by the organization.
  • Clean Water: The cost of clean drinking water is included. You may be required to bring a filtered water bottle.
  • Transportation: For tourist excursions and activities, including taxies, buses, cars, fuel costs and tips
  • Translators: The cost of translators is included in trip costs. Participants may buy language books or electronic language translator devices. The organization will provide information about tourists’ attraction areas and or activities for each trip.
  • Tips: Tips are also included in trip costs.
  • Visa: The Starosy Foundation will cover the cost of any visa procedure after arrival in the host country. You may be required to submit additional documents depending on the visa requirements of your host country.
  • Travel & Evacuation Insurance: Starosy Foundation will enroll you in travel and evacuation insurance for the duration of your trip.
What is Not Covered in the trip cost?
  • Airfare, including changing itineraries, baggage, upgrades, flight delays, in-country flight
  • Visa Fees before arrival to the destination country
  • Passport Fees before arrival to the destination country
  • Vaccinations and travel prophylactic medications
  • Personal supplies
  • License Transfer Procedure (for licensed medical professionals): If you are a medical professional, you may be required to submit additional documents or license transfer forms.
  • In-transit expenses in the airport, such as meals, lodging
  • Touristic excursions/activities not enclosed in the trip itinerary
  • Alcohol and Brew
